What is HealthyStart?

The HealthyStart system consists of a series of comfortable, soft, removable oral devices that gradually guide erupting teeth to their ideal positions, aiding in the growth and alignment of the lower jaw and expanding the arches to accommodate incoming teeth. When worn at night, the HealthyStart appliance can address symptoms of SDB, which affects nine out of ten children and can lead to a range of physical, emotional, and behavioral problems due to disrupted sleep patterns.

How Does HealthyStart Work?

The HealthyStart system works in tandem with natural tooth eruptions using a series of three oral appliances, depending on your child’s age and the severity of their condition:

1. Habit Corrector ®: This step lasts one to five months and corrects oral habits detrimental to your child’s oral health.
2. Second Phase: This customized appliance is worn for two to six months at night to guide incoming teeth into their desired positions, correcting jaw issues and expanding the arches to accommodate erupting adult teeth.
3. Final Phase: This personalized device begins when your child has at least four permanent teeth, ensuring that any new emerging teeth erupt in proper alignment.
